
Volunteers Wanted
Superman (or Superwoman)to volunteer 4 hours
a week to help vulnerable, elderly clients access
programs and benefits they are entitled to receive. Must be willing to advocate on behalf
of needy and fight for truth, justice and the American Way. Learn how to help others apply
for food stamps, QMB, SLMB, Circuit Breaker, and LIHEAP. Learn to cut through bureaucratic
red tape to get the benefit to the person who needs it.
For the first time in four years, there are openings for Volunteer Senior Independent
Advocates (VISAs) in the Advocacy Program. This rewarding opportunity requires a special
person who is detail oriented and able to work independently. Call Diana Santolin at
708-422-6722 to schedule an interview and learn more about becoming a VISA.
Volunteers are also needed in the Tax Counseling Program which runs from Feb 1 thru April
15. Free training is provided by the IRS during January.
On an ongoing basis, volunteer drivers are always welcome to join the ranks of the Escort
Program and Home Delivered Meals Program.
